Adirondack Lynx to launch a female only Soccer Academy starting in the fall of 2006.

The Adirondack Lynx, the capital regions only women’s premier soccer team, is pleased to announce the formation of the Adirondack Lynx Female Soccer Academy. The Lynx Soccer Academy will be a comprehensive program that will offer the female player a wide range of programs and services. The Academy’s intent is to support the local clubs and NOT compete with the current club structure that is in place within the CDYSL. The Lynx Soccer Academy would look to provide those players with a passion for the game that have advanced skills for their age an environment to continue to excel.

Consisting of a player development structure that begins at the youngest levels all the way to the amateur ranks, the Academy’s goal is to create the first professional environment for the development of elite female players and coaches.

...The Adirondack Lynx Female Soccer Academy’s intent is to support the local clubs and NOT compete with the current club structure that is in place within the CDYSL!”

The Lynx Soccer Academy will feature a variety of levels, including the Premier Women’s team, a Reserve (U23) team, as well as a school of excellence for Under-12 to under-19 age groups. In addition, camps, clinics, team training, and tournaments will be part of the Adirondack Lynx Female Soccer Academy.

Under the guidance of the current Adirondack Lynx general manager/head coach PJ Motsiff and team owner Peter Wirfel, the Lynx Soccer Academy will feature incomparable resources for youth soccer development for the female player. Motsiff and Wirfel are lining up a coaching and training staff that is unparalleled in upstate New York. They will be putting staff in place that has a proven track record for player development. Motsiff States, “Team success is not the primary goal of our Academy, Player development is!”

Motsiff goes on to add, “The Adirondack Lynx Female Soccer Academy’s plan is to provide an intense environment for the development of female players in Eastern New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut. The Academy’s membership will be the vehicle that helps support women’s soccer at the highest level in the United States. With the Adirondack Lynx Women’s team currently having success playing in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (The league is ranked as one of the top 5 women’s leagues in the WORLD!), the Lynx Soccer Academy will hopefully inspire young players to pursue their dreams of playing at the highest level they can achieve and hopefully someday be given the opportunity to become the future of the Adirondack Lynx. Having youth and adult players wearing the Lynx jersey and feeling invested in our Academy is exciting for our area. “
