Fort Ann, NY –The Adirondack Lynx put on a clinic for the first 30 minutes in their home opener against the Bay State Select. The Lynx were moving and passing like they had been playing together for a complete season. In reality, the full squad has only trained 2 days together.
PJ Motsiff, Head Coach spoke to the team about setting the tone in the first 15 minutes. "We played Bay State last week and waited until the last minute to win the game. I told the girls we needed to end the match early so we could rest players for Sundays match against the New York Athletic Club."
The Lynx responded with 3 goals in the first 30 minutes. Rachel Sushner started off the scoring in the 11th minute. She received a ball from Kylie Watt and took her defender on then lofted a ball over the keepers head to hit the side netting. 10 minutes later, newcomers Sara Wild and Laura Burnett-Kurie made it 2-0 when Burnett-Kurie beat two defenders, slotted the ball to the middle of the field to wild who finished the shot going top-shelf. In the 30th minute Haley George scored an unassisted goal which should have been the end of the game.
Bay State Select had other plans though. In the 35th minute minute Kate McCarthy scored to bring the score 3-1 at the half. The second half started out much like the first where the Lynx dominated play for the first 15 minutes. In the 55th minute Megan Bellingham scored off an indirect kick from 10 yards out after the Bay State Keeper picked up a passed back ball.

Sara Wild, Williams College got into the scoring column in only her first match with the Adirondack Lynx. Wild is from Portland, Oregon but plays college for Williams College (2008 Final Four Participants).
That goal seemed to ignite the Select as they started to win possession and get forward. Bay State switched to 3 forwards and attacked with pace. This change paid off as Ana Meniz and Lindsay Cunningham scored in the 73 and 75th minute. This push made the score 4-3. The next 15 minutes were intense on both sides as Adirondack tried to control the ball and stay organized. However, Bay State would transition quickly and get shots off on the Lynx goal. One shot destined for the upper corner was saved by Jen McEachron. If that had gone in it sure would have changed the last 10 minutes.
The offensive player of the game was Lindsay Cunningham from Bay State as she scored a goal and had an assist. The defensive player of the game was Meghan Sleezer.
The Adirondack Lynx return to action on Sunday, May 31 when they host the New York Athletic Club at Golden Goal in Fort Ann with a 5pm start.
