Adirondack Bows out of the USASA Open Cup in the Region 1 Quarterfinals

Farmington CT- The Adirondack Lynx's hopes of playing in the Region 1 finals of the USASA Open Cup were dashed Sunday as SoccerPlus Ct. was too strong and pulled out a 3-1 win.
Connecticut riding the wave of beating the New York Athletic Club 4-1 the night before in league play continued their scoring punch. Tiffany Weimer (US National Team Pool) took advantage of a perfect pass from Katie Schopfer (US U20 National Team Pool) early in the match. Weimer ripped a shot from the 18 that beat the Lynx keeper Erica Bohn (Notre Dame).
In the second half the Reds came out on fire and scored 2 quick goals in the first 15 minutes. This time Weimer returned the favor when she found Schopfer who made it 2-0. Moments later Weimer hit a 35 yarder that snuck under the crossbar.
The Lynx with their never say die attitude fought till the end. Brooke Knowlton capitalized on a defensive breakdown by Connecticut late in the game and scored making it 3-1.

Motsiff felt the girls played strongly today. "We are still trying to figure out how to connect with one another. Especially linking the forwards with the midfield. This is an area we struggled with last season and will be a focus of our training sessions the next couple of weeks. "
With the win, Conneticut advances to the USASA Region 1 Open Cup finals. The winner of the finals will head to Seattle on August 3-4 for the National Finals.
The Lynx will return to Connecticut to play their league match at Central Connecticut State University on June 2 at 6pm.
