2008 High School All-American Whitney Frary (Niskayuna, NY) will lead a youthful influx of players that have been very involved with the Adirondack Lynx Elite Female Soccer Academy. Adirondack Lynx Owner, PJ Motsiff started the female Academy for exactly this purpose. "I wanted to use the level of play in the WPSL as a launch pad for our most committed local players. They have worked so hard through their youth career that having a home for the summer in that gap year between high school and college is so important! Everyone of these girls have spent quality time training with the Lynx that I feel like this is the first real group of Academy Players to come through our three year old program. Some of the girls have been full time with the Academy and others have been in and out picking up high level competition with top club teams."

Frary, a highly decorated player from the capital region still has something to prove. At Niskayuna she scored 53 goals and had 30 assists over her career. This fall Whitney is headed off to one of the top division 3 schools in the country at WIlliam Smith in Geneva, NY. She is the first high school All-American to attend the school and is looking to make an immediate impact. Frary believes playing with the Lynx will push her to train harder over the summer preparing her for her freshman year.

Kylie Watt another Academy player with high aspirations, saw significant time last season on the WPSL team. This opportunity really allowed to grow and be exposed to the highest level of coaches and competition. The challenge paid off at the beginning of this March when Watt received a phone call from University of North Carolina telling her she was accepted and they wanted her to play for Chapel Hill! Watt was one of the first players to come to the Academy when it opened for training in 2004. She has been in full time and what a dream she is having now.

Emily Brown (Chatham NY), along with Watt has been involved with the Lynx since the beginning. Brown will be attending Roanoke College in the Fall. She was being recruited by a number of colleges including Pace University and Oneonta State.

Chacha Naito will be headed to New Jersey Institute of Technology in August. She is out of Oneonta, NY. Chacha has been involved with the Eastern NY ODP program. Naito is a very versatile player and can plays most positions very well.

Ashley Wilson, an All-NY State player, like Watt had lots of "game time" with the Lynx WPSL team in 2008. This opportunity allowed her to hone her skills for Ravena high school as she lit up the nets scoring 39 goals her senior year. Ironically it was Ravena that went the furthest of any team in the capital region by advancing to the NY State Semi-finals. Wilson is on a full scholarship to Monroe Community College in Rochester, one of the top NCAA Division 1 jr. colleges in the country.

Lindsay Borbolla another long time academy player has been with the Lynx for 2 years. Last season she played with the Lynx Youth Premier Soccer League Team throughout the summer where she was identified as one of the top players in the league. Borbolla will be attending the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the fall.

Kylie Watt, will be preparing for her freshman year at UNC. She spent last year accumulating quality minutes in the WPSL due to the injury laden Lynx. (Above she challenges Nikki Cross, recent Pro player drafted into the WPS.

Motsiff believes, “All of these girls will have opportunities to shine. they will need to work real hard to fight for some quality time but that is the point of training with the college players that will be surrounding them. To be in over their head all summer long where they will be fighting for playing time. they might as well get used to it now because it will not change for the next four years of there college career. I personally have a lot of confidence in these young players or they would have not been invited in to play with the WPSL team.

The Adirondack Lynx will open their preseason slate April 19 and 26th, when they play Skidmore College and RPI respectively. Motsiff will use these preseason games to see where his young players are. The Lynx will play the first game of the regular season on the road against the Bay State Select out of Massachusetts on May 23.
