New York Women's Premier Soccer

About Adirondack Lynx Soccer

A Brief History...   ...so far.

The Lynx are a young but ambitious team with a lot to prove in the Women's Premier Soccer League. They'll have to cut their teeth against some tough competition in the WPSL.

Like anything special... it all begins with a thought, a desire, a vision, and a GOAL! Let's see how far we can take it...

THE THOUGHT...With the capital region producing some of the best high school teams in the state year after year, why do our best female soccer players often leave the area to play for other clubs? Why do our "local" college girls have to play co-ed during the summer to maintain their skills? Why does premier soccer have to cost so much?

THE DESIRE...To create an intense training environment where female players (regardless of their financial situation) would want to show up and compete. Sure friendships might rekindle and new ones will develop, but ultimately, every female that steps on the pitch would want to be there for one reason. To get pushed outside their comfort zone in order to achieve the next level physically, technically, tactically and psychologically.

THE VISION...The female soccer player has unique needs. These needs can only be met by training in a positive environment where competition is inevitable. Could you imagine a team in upstate New York playing a game against, Brandi Chastain, Danielle Fotopoulus, Abby Wambach, Shannon Box, Leslie Osborne, Lori Chalupney, and internationals like Sissi and Daniella?

Females should hear, "It is OK to BEAT your opponent badly", "You do A LOT of things really well, like...however, try this...", "I know you have more in you...lets see it!" "What do you feel you are struggling with...OK, lets work on it without pressure, then we'll add lots of pressure."

The Women's Premier Soccer League is the the only stand alone amateur women's league in the United States. Hmmm...makes sense that if they can make a whole national league successful this way and grow it from 4 to 39 teams they must be doing something correct. A team needs to take the same steps...

  • Make it cost effective
  • Develop a team model where everyone is invested
  • Create a competitive environment
  • Be a grassroots effort in order to provide positive female role models for our local soccer clubs.

THE GOAL...To get local support from the media, families, businesses, schools and soccer clubs in order to build a fan base. To give our youth players an inspiration. To maintain the longevity of this team and continue to create an opportunity for our best female players in the capital region. To win a WPSL Championship ASAP!

Dreams become reality with a clear vision & lots of hard work....

...and so our journey begins.
