Glens Falls , NY - The Adirondack Lynx are pleased to announce today that Bernie Watt will take over the head coaching duties for the Adirondack Lynx WPSL team.
Owner and Lynx General Manager, PJ Motsiff noted of the coaching change, "This is really just a formal announcement of what has been happening since the beginning of the season with the WPSL team --- as Bernie has already been running the training sessions, and coaching our games, with his fantastic intensity."
“Bernie coaches with an intensity and passion that few people possess. He has great knowledge of the training needed to play at the national and professional level which is exactly what the Lynx WPSL program needs. He has a way of motivating players to win, and demanding they play and train at their true potential.”
Watt's commitment to the game of soccer stems from an outstanding career as both a player and coach. Playing at Springfield College he held many, many goalkeeper records, and his career as a professional has included playing for the Houston Dynamo's (USL), Kalamazoo Kangaroo's (AISA), Albany Capitals (APSL), and the New York Kick (NPSL).
Bernie also is the owner/director of his very own Soccer Watt Academy Camps and Clinics. He coaches youth through professional players and is available for private or group lessons at any level.
Watt has trained several MLS and WUSA rostered professional goalkeepers and has personally coached a number of players up to the MLS level, and currently serves as a player representative for several of them.
And, as if that wasn't enough, he also helps with training and development for the Adirondack Lynx Elite Female Soccer Academy when he is available..
As noted above, Bernie has a wealth of experience working with players at all levels and is no stranger to success as a Coach, too. He currently serves as the Union College goal keeping Coach, where in 2005 he helped the team to the NCAA tournament. He has been a part of 6 other college trips to the NCAAs. Three times as the assistant women’s coach at Division 2, College of Saint Rose and as the Head Coach at Rennselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
Bernie's other college coaching experience includes the assistant Men’s and Goalkeeper Coach at the University at Albany, Head Coach at RPI from 1996-1998 where his team made 3 NCAA appearances, assistant men’s coach at RPI, and Assistant Women’s Coach at RPI.

From 2001 -2005, Watt served as the head coach for the PDL Albany Admirals, the highest level of the men's game played in the capital district.
Motsiff adds, “I have no doubt that Bernie will have this team better prepared to run for the divisional play-offs than anyone else could. You watch the guy at work training players for just 15 minutes, and you immediately understand why he has such an outstanding resume to his credit.”
