The Adirondack Lynx Shutout Skidmore and New Paltz College in First Preseason Campaign
A mixture of youth and veterans made up the roster to play in early spring matches

Rachel Sushner, 2008 First Team All-Liberty League Player attracted a lot of attention from her former teammates as she went head to head with them while playing for the Adirondack Lynx in a series of preseason friendlies.
Saturday, April 19, 2009 - With the college spring season winding down and the WPSL heating up, The Adirondack Lynx were invited to play Skidmore and New Paltz College in a series of 30 minute friendlies.
New Paltz finished their fall season at 10-8-1 and made it to the quarterfinals of the SUNYAC Play-offs. Skidmore had a stellar season in 2008 when they finished 13-4-5. The thoroughbreds lost in a shootout to William Smith for the Liberty League Championship. Then in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Skidmore again was downed in penalty kicks. This time to Western Connecticut.
Adirondack did not play at full strength as most of the team is made up of college players and they have not been released from their schools. However, the Lynx played the college teams with a mixture of youth and veteran players. The Veteran's included all-americans Tracy Stankavage (William Smith)and Erin Flaherty (St. John's/Siena), as well as NSCAA All-Regional player Rachel Sushner (Skidmore). The youth players included Lindsay Curley (Currently at Utica College), a number of players heading off to college this fall, Kylie Watt (UNC), Chacha Naito (NJIT), Lindsay Borbolla (MCLA), Whitney Frary (William Smith), and Emily Brown (Roanoke). The team also had a number players that will play this summer with the Elite U17 team, Amanda Hathaway (Stillwater/Capital United SC)), Kelsey Fish (South Glens Falls/Lynx Academy), Ashley Cross (Maple Hill/Lynx Academy) and Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro/Odyssey Sport SC).
In the Series of 30 minute matches the Lynx did not concede a goal. Rachel Edgin, a 15 year old Goalkeeping sensation from Whitesboro High School held her own against the college competition.

Adirondack will return to action next Sunday when it travels to Troy, NY to play RPI and another team yet to be named.
