Adirondack Lynx are the #1Seed in the Eastern Conference of the WPSL Playoffs

Lynx All-American forward, Mary Velan, was the only player to score in their recent 2-1 loss to the Nothampton Laurels. She will be looking for the net a lot more this weekend in the WPSL playoffs.

The Women’s Premier Soccer League (www.wpsl.info) is currently the highest level of women’s soccer in the United States and one of the top five leagues in the WORLD! The Adirondack Lynx have completed their inaugural season with a record of 7-3. Their hard work and determination has earned them the title of 2006 Northern Division Champions of the Eastern Conference.
The Adirondack Lynx are just two wins away from earning a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah for the WPSL final four Championships on July 29-30. This Friday evening, July 21 The North Division champion, Adirondack Lynx will host the No. 2 seed from the South, the Northampton Laurels (Allentown, PA) at 7pm. The South Division champion, AC Diablos (Atlantic City, NJ) will be hosting the No. 2 seed from the North, the Long Island Fury. The two winners will play one another on Sunday July 21 for the right to go to Utah. The team with the best record will host the finals on Sunday. Should the Lynx and Long Island win their matches, Adirondack will host the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday July 3 at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, NY at 2pm. If Atlantic City wins, Adirondack will have to travel to the AC Diablos because they have only lost 1 match this year.

Adirondack Lynx vs. Northampton Laurels
Friday July 21, 7pm at the CLifton Commons in Clifton Park, NY.
The semifinal match on Friday should prove to be very interesting as Adirondack lost 2-1 this past Sunday to the Northampton Laurels in Allentown, PA. The Lynx however are 4-0 at home this season. They will be looking for revenge as they begin their quest to become the 2006 WPSL National Champions. The team has already proven it can rise to the challenge. Earlier in the season the Lynx beat the New England Mutiny, who at the time were ranked as the #19 team in the world. They also beat the Long Island Fury who had not lost a game and had not given up a goal all season. The cost for Friday nights semifinal match-up at the Clifton Commons is $5 for Adults, $3 for children 5-18, and free for kids under 5.
