The Lynx will have to wait another week to begin their quest for a divisional title in the Women's Premier Soccer League. The team's first away game scheduled against Bay State Select has been cancelled because of predicted weather.
With the forecast for heavy downpours and rain over the next five days in Boston and nearby Salem, Lynx opponents, Bay State Select, have opted to make an early decision to call the game off.
Peter Wirfel, Owner of the Lynx, who is also the owner of Weather Routing, Inc. in Glens Falls, NY, agrees with the decision. He has been monitoring the weather throughout the week and believes that making the call to cancel is a smart move. Peter's outlook for the weekend in Eastern, Massachusetts is wet and soggy.
The Lynx coaching staff also has no problem with the delay. "The extra week will give us some more time to imprint our style of play on all of the players. With this being our first year in the league, we still need to get many players comfortable with one another by developing a sense of familiarity, camaraderie and community", noted PJ Motsiff, head coach.
A make-up match has not been confirmed yet. However it is looking like it will be sometime in early July as both clubs have some common open dates.
