Ashley started all 21 games for Nazareth in 2005. She was a major reason they were able to win the Division 3 ECAC Championship.Clinton is a graduate of Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park. She was a three-year varsity starter and a Suburban Council and Section Two all-star selection.

Clinton was also named to the Times-Record Dream Team and a fourth-team all-state pick. During her high school career Ashley helped her team to two Section Two Class AA titles and two regional championships.

In 2004 the team were crowned New York State champions while in 2003 the team were runners-up state championship. Being a huge part of that outstanding team in 2004, Clinton was named MVP of state championship game. During the summer of 2005 she was a member ofAdirondack Region team that won a gold medal at the Empire State Games .
