Katie Gardiner, a former Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year (University of Hartford) joined the Lynx in 2007 after spending the previous season with the Western Massachusetts Pioneers. There she helped lead the W-League team to an extremely successful season by finishing 11-3-1. The team made it to the quarterfinals of the w-league Eastern Conference playoffs.

Gardiner is a midfielder and can play any where on that line, as well as in the back. Gardiner is a true leader, as she was a captain for the University of Hartford. Immediately after joining the Lynx in 2007 her leadership skills were just what the new expansion team needed to continue its success. She was appointed captain and took no time motivating her teammates to win 6 of their last 8 and outscore their opponents 14-2 over while going undefeated in their last 4 matches.

Her former coach at the University of Hartford and with the Western Mass Pioneers was John Natale. Natale says "Katie is very passionate about the game. She is a competitor and a very hard worker. Not only does she love to go at players but she has a good shot and can serve dangerous balls. Winning is very important to her!"

General Manager, PJ Motsiff commented, "her leadership abilities have been welcomed by our organization as she has come on board to help the Lynx continue their success of playing at the highest level of women's soccer in the United States. Katie's positive attitude is infectious and she really knows how to get the team motivated to play their best. "
