Profile

Peter Wirfel is a soccer phenatic. He has been an intricate part in the vision of the Lynx since it's inception in the fall of 2005. Peter feels that this level of soccer on the female side is exactly what the Capital Region and Lower Adirondacks needs.

His passion for the game comes from the fact that for the past ten years he has coached at the secondary school level. The last six have been as the Girls Varsity coach at South Glens Falls High School in upstate New York. It only took him four years to take a brand new program become Class A Sectional Champions and Regional Co-Champions. Wirfel has been named as the New York State Section 2 and Saratogian Coach of the Year. He prides himself in the fact that his teams have won sportsmanship awards in 3 of past 4 years.

As Wirfel has helped raise the level of play in his community, it is being noticed by the rest of the New York State. He has helped produce all-state players in each of past three years. His teams have earned NYSPHSAA and NSCAA team academic awards every year since 1999. Peter holds a New York State Professional Coaching License, a USSF and an NSCAA licenses as well as International Coaches Association Coaching License.

When Peter is not coaching, he is running around the field as a certified USSF referee. Wirfel has also been a very active member of the South Glens Falls Soccer Club, Adirondack Soccer Club and North Country Alliance program.
