2009 Adirondack Lynx Team Roster
Profile
In 2009, Adirondack will be looking to build upon the success from their first 2 seasons in the WPSL. With a combination of youth and injuries last year the Lynx had a hard time finding the win column. This year the team is filled with many scoring threats so finding the back of the net should not be a problem.
The 2009 Adirondack Lynx will see many new faces on their roster. Even with the addition of these new members, the Lynx are confident they have the personnel to return to the play-offs. This season the team will compete against the 14 Eastern Conference teams for 1 of 8 play-off spots. The Division includes the 2006 National Champion Long Island Fury, 2007and 2008 WPSL National Finalist New England Mutiny, as well as Tony Dicicco's (former National and Olympic Team coach) SoccerPlus CT team. Dicicco will be coaching the Boston Breakers in 2009 as Women's pro soccer makes a return. Also in the conference is Matt Driver. He is the force behind the Philadelphia WPS Franchise scheduled to start play in 2010. Driver heads up Team Dynamics who oversee three WPSL teams, the AC Diablos, Philadelphia Liberty, and the CDSA Future.
The Lynx finished 2006, their inaugural campaign in the league, with a 7-3 league record (8-4 overall). In their quest for a divisional title they beat some quality sides, including the New England Mutiny (ranked #19 in the world at the time) and the Long Island Fury (currently ranked #8 in the world and the 2006 WPSL National Champions). The Lynx had set the bar high for a first year team and achieved all they had set out to do. The Lynx had a high scoring offense that averaged over 2.5 goals per game. Their defense wasn't too bad either giving up a little over 1 goal per game.
The 2007 team finished the season 6-4 and narrowly missed the play-offs. They finished the season winning 6 of their last 8. In their last four matches the team went undefeated and outscored its opponents 14-2.
2008 saw the program finish the season 2-8-2. 4 of the losses were to the CT. Reds who went undefeated in the regular season and New England Mutiny, who made it to the National Final Four. Three of the other four losses were in stoppage time. The Lynx are looking to rebound in 2009 and from the looks of the roster, scoring should not be a problem.
